3 reasons to fall in love with Brittany, France

Recently, I had the chance to visit Brittany in France through a familarisation trip by La Cordee Reisen I was invited on for work. It was my first time to visit this area of France and I immidiately fell in love with it.

While we were a wee group and traveled by bus, I would recommend individual travellers to rent a car to explore the area. You can fly in to Brittanys capital of Rennes or get there by train in only about two hours from Paris.

Since I was pretty busy with work right before my trip I did not have too much a chance to prepare for the trip. I was therefore even more so positively suprised.

While my first reason for falling in love with Brittany is purely personal, the other two should speak to anyone interested in nature and responsible tourism. So here are the three reasons I fell in love with the Brittany.

1) It reminded me of Scotland

I lived in Scotland for four and a half years and it is a place still very close to my heart. While I never regretted moving back to Germany at the end of 2015, I do still miss Scotland every so often. It therefore made me absolutely happy to feel close to this former home of mine while visiting Brittany.

Locronan

Both Brittany and Scotland have celtic roots, wild landscapes and wee villages mainly built by granite stone. So visiting Locronan in the west of Brittany for example, I could totally imagine this village to be in the Scottish Highlands rather than in France.

2) It offers the most amazing and diverse coastlines
The coast by Fort la Latte.

Those of you who know me know how much I love places close to some kind of water. I am happy with Rivers, I like lakes, but I absolutely love the sea. Considering that Brittany is surrounded by the sea on three sides just makes it a perfect destination for me.

However, it is not only that there is a seaside around Brittany, it´s coastlines are as diverse as they are long and absolutely stunning. You have soft lagoons, deep cliffs, white beaches and pink granite jungles lined next to each other.

3) It is one of the top 100 most sustainable tourist destinations in the world

Above all, Brittany has a lot to offer both culturally and environmentally. The local tourist entities have therefore mad it their greatest goal to protect and foster their heritage.

As a result, Brittany is considered one of 100 most sustainable tourist destinations in the world since 2016. And it is visible in  many of its beaches carry the blue flag for environmental cleanliness and efforts and a special air and water quality.

I can therefore only recommend a trip to Brittany.

And for those who have been there before, what are your favourite things about Brittany?
